In 2008, Lisa Baxter joined forced with Audiences Yorkshire and the University of Sheffield to conduct pioneering work into the potential of qualitative research to reveal deep understanding of the arts experience and its impact. Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Arts Council England, Lisa was lead researcher on the project. Working with audiences of West Yorkshire Playhouse (Leeds) and Magna Science and Adventure Park (Rotherham), our methods included metaphor work, guided visualisation, rich pictures and contextual analysis. The hugely successful results were praised by the Arts Council and have since been disseminated through publications, presentations and lectures nationally and internationally.
